Track 1: Advanced Crystallography

Crystals are commonly associated with having naturally improved, flat and smooth external faces. It has been recognised that this trace of external regularity is related to the regularity of internal structure. Diffraction techniques are now available which give much more details about the internal structure of crystals, and it is recognised that internal order can exist with no external trace for it. The future growth prospects for the crystallization market are optimistic which is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 10.1% to reach a worldwide market of $1,253 million by 2018.

Structural biology can help us to see some of the details missing from this position and consequently is a powerful device to unpick the intricate and exquisite choreography of life. For centuries, we have been able to see structures inside a cell, but even the most strong microscopes are limited in the detail they give, either by the sheer physical boundaries of magnification, or because the samples themselves are not working. Structural biology widely used in sectors such as material science, bioscience, and others. Track 3: Chemical Crystallography

Chemical crystallography is an application of diffraction techniques to know in detail of the structural chemistry. A frequent purpose is the discovery of natural products, or products of the synthetic chemistry experiments; however comprehensive molecular geometry, intermolecular interactions and absolute configurations can also be studied. Structures can be learnt as a function of temperature, pressure or the uses of electromagnetic radiation. Chemical crystallography market is expected to grow from $1,534.0 Million in 2014 to $2,423.9 Million by 2020, at a CAGR of 7.50% from 2015 to 2020.

Track 4: Small angle scattering

X-rays are used to study the structural properties of solids, liquids or gels. Photons interact with electrons, and gives information about the variations of electronic densities in the materials. A typical experimental set-up is shown on Figure 1: a monochromatic beam of incident wave vector ki is selected and falls on the sample. The scattered intensity is gathered as a function of the so-called scattering angle 2θ. Elastic interactions are characterized by zero energy transfers, such that the final wave vector kf is similar in modulus to ki. The related limitation to analyse the synergy is the momentum transfer or scattering vector q=ki-kf, defined by:

Track 5: Material structures

It should be clear that all matter is made up of atoms. In the periodic table, we can see that there are only about 100 different kinds of atoms in the whole Universe. These same 100 atoms form thousands of different materials ranging from the air we inhale to the metal use to support tall buildings. Metals work differently than ceramics, and ceramics work differently than polymers. The properties of matter depend on which atoms are used and how they get together. The total market size for material structure is projected to reach USD 3,862.44 Million by 2020 from USD 2,750.00 Million in 2014, at a CAGR of 5.85% between 2015 and 2020.

Track 6: Recent Development in the X-ray studies

X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) open up new potentiality for X-ray crystallographic and spectroscopic studies of radiation-sensitive biological samples beneath close to physiological conditions. To promote these new X-ray sources, sewn experimental methods and data-processing protocols have to be developed. The highly radiation-sensitive photosystem II (PSII) protein complex is a main target for XFEL experiments focusing to study the mechanism of light-induced water oxidation existing at a Mn cluster in this complex. We developed a set of device for the study of PSII at XFELs, combined with a new liquid jet based on electro focusing, energy dispersive von Hamos X-ray emission spectrometer for the compact X-ray range and a high-throughput soft X-ray spectrometer depending on a reflection zone plate. It is estimated to be USD 275.4 Million in 2015 and is projected to reach USD 386.5 Million by 2020, at a CAGR of 7.0% from 2015 to 2020.

Track 7: Crystallography Applications

Crystallography technique has been a extensively used mechanism for elucidation of compounds present in milk and other types of information obtained through structural and functional relationship. Although more detailed information from X-ray analysis has been secured from compounds which are commonly known to be crystalline, it has been surprising to find compounds commonly thought of as being non-crystalline as really having a partially crystalline structure and that this structure can be altered by heat treatment, pressure, stretching, etc. Casein is an example of the recent class of proteins. Stewart has shown that even solutions bear to assume an orderly arrangement of groups within the solution. Hence, liquid milk undergoes, and does show some type of arrangement. The mineral constituent and lactose are the only appropriate crystalline constituents in dairy products that can be considered by X-ray; nevertheless, interesting structural changes have been observed in butterfat, milk powder, casein and cheese.
